BTLock CAD-CAM Workflow: a practical guide

What does Cad Cam technology do?

It starts with a scan, which can be performed directly in the patient’s mouth with an intraoral scanner or detected in the laboratory with a traditional 3D scanner.

The file generated by the scan is then imported into a CAD software (ask for the libraries for Exocad, 3Shape and Dentalwings!), Which processes and reproduces a digital model that is used to develop the design of the work and any 3D printing of the model (if the impression has not been taken).

Subsequently the file is sent to a milling center for the realization of the pieces, which will then be finalized and finished in the laboratory and finally delivered to the practice.

What devices are used?

  • T-Base is the titanium base where the crown will be cemented. It is available for both lock and rotational diameters, and comes complete with screw.
  • T-Base MUA is used exclusively to perform the exact scanning of multiple implants on a model.
  • Gli scan body, or scan abutment, are devices that allow intra-oral or dental model scanning. They must be positioned on the implant (in the oral examination) or on the analogue (in the model) and allow the detection and recording of the position of the endosseous implant, with the aim of reproducing the oral cavity materialally or virtually where the prosthesis will be inserted. create virtual abutments using CAD software. The gray-opaque surface of the scan body is made of PEEK, a material that allows a practical and accurate scan.

IN LABORATORY – The analogs for prototyping are similar in function to the normal analogs, but are created specifically for the digital workflow. They must be physically inserted into the prototyped model created by the 3d printer. This is in turn obtained from the Cad design, which virtually defines the exact allocation thanks to the position of the scan body.
